Dr. Adam Abodeely, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS, is the founder and CEO of Adirondack Gastrointestinal & Colorectal Surgery, LLC. He holds dual board certifications in General and Colorectal Surgery and has established himself as a leading expert in gastrointestinal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, and motility disorders. With a focus on advancing patient care, Dr. Abodeely has been a pioneer in integrating medical cannabis and alternative forms of healing into his practice since 2010, formally incorporating medical cannabis in 2016. Since then, he has successfully treated thousands of patients, blending traditional and innovative therapies. Driven by a deep commitment to holistic health and wellness, Dr. Abodeely has expanded his focus to the human microbiome and its pivotal role in influencing disease, physical and emotional health, and longevity. Recognizing the intricate connection between the microbiome and overall well-being, he seeks to optimize health outcomes by addressing this complex system, integrating cutting-edge research with a nuanced understanding of both traditional medicine and integrative approaches. Dr. Abodeely’s passion for alternative wellness methods led him to co-found Coral Cove Wellness Resort in Jamaica, where he serves as CEO. Coral Cove provides a unique space for exploration into holistic therapies, focusing on cannabis, psychedelic-assisted treatments, Integrative Medicine, and other alternative health practices. This sanctuary reflects his belief in harmonizing evidence-based medicine with natural healing avenues to promote long-term vitality and wellness. Beyond patient care, Dr. Abodeely is a distinguished thought leader in the cannabis and wellness industries. He is a member of the Advisory Council for New York State's Office of Cannabis Management and chairs the committee on cannabis for inflammatory bowel disease. Recently, he completed a comprehensive review with New York State and is the lead author of a pivotal document for State Certified cannabis providers titled The Therapeutic Applications of Cannabis for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr. Abodeely is also the author of “A Surgeon’s Perspective on the Science & Truth of Cannabis,” a resource for advancing understanding of cannabinoids. His dedication to education and advocacy is further evident in his numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributions to educational platforms focusing on cannabis science. Dr. Abodeely has held key leadership roles, including serving as the former Chairman of the Education and Dispensary Review Committees, and remains a board member of the Association of Cannabinoid Specialists and The Cannavision Institute™.
